Notes on getting hired, not collecting courses

Short pieces for people pivoting into product, data, and ops in Lagos and beyond. This is the classroom, not the product tour.

  • What Lagos hiring desks actually scan

They do not read your twelve certificates. They look for one proof project, a metric you owned, and whether you can talk about a funnel without hiding in jargon. Course completion is not a signal. A dashboard you can defend in a loop is.

  • SQL is not the career. The question is.

A Product Analyst who can write a join and still cannot name the decision the query serves will lose the room. Start from the business ask. Then pull the slice. Then write the sentence a PM can take upstairs.

  • Why Accra and Lagos interviews feel different

Same title, different proof. Lagos fintech loops lean on metrics and stakeholder stories. Accra ops loops lean on reliability and written handoff. Build the portfolio for the city you are walking into, not a generic LinkedIn template.
